Joe Barbera, the other half of the Hanna-Barbera animation team, passed away this past Monday. He was 95.
I remember growing up watching Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, and Tom and Jerry on the telly. Even now, I love to watch the re-runs of Tom and Jerry together with my son though he might not be as interested. But at some children’s clinics, they do show Tom and Jerry cartoons to entertain the kids. Guess it’s a passing of an era of my golden age of cartoons.
By the way, Barbera’s partner-in-crime, Bill Hanna, passed away in 2001.
Anyway, here are some news reports around the web:
– “Cartoon creator Joe Barbera dies” (Dallas Morning News)
– “Joe Barbera, creator of cartoon classics, dies at 95” (Guardian Unlimited)
– “Cartoon legend Barbera dies at 95” (BBC News)
